Father Andrew & Father Lewis tag teamed once again today for the last session of their Lenten Workshop, “So You Think You Know Who You Are?” Much of the discussion was on the Body of Christ – the members of the church in Christian fellowship as they do God’s work – in the church and in the larger world.
Here are a couple of takeaways for further meditation, in preparation for Holy Week.
About our worship:
We worship, not only with our mind, but with our whole body: we stand to pray; we kneel to receive God’s blessing; we sing God’s praise; we raise our hands in adoration; we use our ears to listen to God’s Word; we smell incense as it rises to God, like our prayers; we taste the Body and Blood of Christ; and we see God’s glory in our brothers and sisters.
About our Christian fellowship:
Jesus said, “You will know them by their fruits.” The fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Each leads to the other: love will bring joy; joy will bring peace; peace will bring patience; patience will bring kindness; kindness will bring goodness; goodness will bring faithfulness; faithfulness will bring gentleness; and gentleness will bring self-control – even with those we may not care for. Then, we are able to see God’s glory in our brothers and sisters.
This session will repeat tonight, April 4, at 7 PM in the Parish Hall.
